Work at the Bird Observatory
Kvismare Bird Observatory needs staff from end of June to September. Regardless of whether you are a beginner or an experienced ornithologist you can participate in the work at the bird observatory.
Assistant. Photo by Tobias Sahlman. The whole field season we need wardens who are able to be in charge of the daily running of the bird observatory. Before midsummer we also need people making censuses, e. g. on the breeding biology of Marsh harriers. After midsummer and to the end of September ringers are needed.
Assistants are needed throughout the season. To work as an assistant you do not need any earlier experience of bird observatory work. Interest in birds and nature conservation work is good enough. Minimum age is 15 years.
Subsistence allowance is paid to persons working at least one week. The payment is at present 450 SEK / week for assistants, 650-850 SEK / week for ringers and census personnel and 750-950 SEK / week for wardens. All staff categories except assistants get a somewhat higher payment for a longer stay.
Lodging is provided in the bird observatory at Ängfallet, a small cottage in the middle of the Kvismare area.
Don't hesitate to get in touch with the staff manager if you want to work at Kvismare Bird Observatory!
