Projects: WETLANDS SURVEY

We have done part of the wetlands census today, we have covered Löten, Sörbysjon, Hammarmaden, Hammarbotten, Killige-maden, Nynasangen y Nyangen. In Löten we had have the chance to see three whimbrels that used our wetlands as a stopover. In Sörbyjon we had have count about 450 nest of Black-headed gulls.

Observations: We have seen a pair of White-tailed eagles in Hammarmaden.

One black-head gull was caught and ringed in Sörbysjön. We have also deployed a logger for a new project.

We have confirmed the marsh harrier territories in Kvismaren and it is fifteen females.

Ringing:

One Savi´s warbler was catched in Sörbysjön.

We think that we have identified all of the nest. In total, there are fifteen distributed five in Åslasjön, one in Fågelsjön, three in Sörbysjön, two in Östra Kvismaren, one in Nyängen and three in Rysjön.

We found two new nests in Åslasjön, one in Fågelsjön and another one in Sörbysjön. After two bad weather days, the marsh harriers were very active today.

We found no nest but males and females were foraging in Östra Kvismaren.

We have checked all the nest in Söron but it was a bit soon so there were just a few active nests.

We still focusing our efforts Östra fågelsjön, we have seen 4 males and 3 females foraging in the area.

We have started the second check in the nest boxes of Söron, for now we have 5 boxes with brood activities.

We have been looking for new territories in Östra fågelsjön, since we have seen lots of individuals foraging there, we are focusing our efforts there.

We have finished the second check of the starling nest boxes, there are 56 nest boxes with brood activities.

We have gone to Fågelsjön and we have found a new territory. Also we have seen males foraging.

Projects: STARLING NESTBOXES

The first nestboxes with eggs appear. We have been checking the nest boxes in Hammar and the ones in Ängfallet, we saw 24 nestboxes with brood activities. The highest brood was of 6 eggs and the smallest 1 egg .

We have continued with the second round of the Wetland census, today have been our first sight of yellow wagtail and a withe-tailed eagle have been seen in Fiskinge, with a bit of luck it will mate here this year again.

We have started the second round of the Wetland census, we have seen a lot of different and new species, common tern, ruff, common greenshank, spotted redshank... we have also seen the first chicks of greylag goose :)
